Kiva is a non-profit organization with a mission to connect people through lending to alleviate poverty and help people to realize their project, for instance buying a new equipment for agriculture. They use Internet and especially the network to get some microfinance institutions. With kiva you can make a little donation of 25$ or more. It helps people to create opportunity to have a better situation and to get a new life, for people all around the world. Kiva is present in 61 countries around the world, thanks to their action: 700 000 lenders are changing lives. The most part of the actions it’s to connect the people from all around the world to get the microfinance. With the loan collected, food, tools or crops are created.
Kiva offers a better future to a lot of people all around the world.

Today, we will talk about the new generation who thanks to Internet earn a lot of money and become famous trough the social networks, Youtube or others website.

Indeed, teenagers need to have visibility and it’s normal for us to share with friends and people what we make and love. Today 84% of young people have a facebook account in France, so it shows the importance of social networks in our life. But a lot of people share photos and videos with unknowns people, for example when you post a video on Youtube, you don’t know who see your video. So a lot of people know a media buzz. To illustrate this idea, I chose the advertising of Google Chrome because it shows how Justin Bieber has become famous.

When he was young, Justin Bieber started to post videos of him singing and he received some views. Thanks to Youtube, Usher saw a video of him singing and he liked his voice so he called a music producer. After that, Justin Bieber began to make an album and since that day he became famous in the world.

We can compare the beginning of Justin Bieber’s career and Irma’s carrer because the both became famous thanks to Internet. Indeed, Irma is a young girl who post videos on My Major Company, a french website where people post their talents and they request some money. Irma received money that she needed and she released her album thanks to people who gave money. So with Internet, we can earn money and become famous but we can have to be careful because a lot of people make the buzz unintentionally.

Alejandro Cremades is a Spanish entrepreneur based in New York who co-founded the first investment crowdfunding platform for Startups, named Rock the Post.

This video is a smart drawned and comical presentation who explain all the good usable side of the crowdfunding system, where he explains that crowdfunding is basically fundraising but added to the use of social media tools to accelerate the fundraising process. He gives also advice to reach you goals if you want to collect funds for a professsional project.

Social media : a good or a bad thing ?

We’ve posted different articles about social media and whether they have a good or bad impact on our society but we are yet to come to a conclusion. Do you think that social media products such as Facebook and Twitter have a bad or good influence on our life? In this article we will present both the good and bad aspects of social media in order to come to a conclusion.

 First about the good aspect. There is no denying social media permit us to communicate much easily and faster, from a country to an other without difficulty. Moreover, the sharing of informations, pictures, ideas, opinion, video or every kind of content is now possible via the internet. Those two aspect are related by the idea that they create relations between people all over the world by reducing the communication barriers. The business world is also present in the social media (especially via Linked-in for example) and can represent a good opportunity to workers and employers, and also if you want to start a company for instance.

Then what about the negative aspect of social media ? Through our previous articles we talked about the idea of addiction, and it can lead to some kind of isolation for the users, the problem of cyber bullying and lack of protection of our personal informations on internet (digital shadow). Further more we haven’t talk about catfish in the blog but it’s also a “bad” aspect of social media, because it represent a threat to the people who use the social networks.

To conclude, the impact social media of social media is both positive and negative even though it’s more than essential in our lives since it’s getting difficult to communicate without it.

Whaller , the privatized network.

         In few year the social network became ubiquitous in our life. Most of the population spend time everyday connected to facebook twitter instagram..

But many regret their user registration and think that there is a lack of security on social networks.

For us and the other there is Whaller.

Whaller is not a social network like the other one. It’s a web platform on which the user can create their own social network. Whaller allows like in real life to restrict conversation, the one with the family the other with friend, they are represented as spheres. The different social network are private and close relative to the other. A text send on a sphere can’t be view on the other one.

The plus of whaller it is his private character, indeed the site grand a huge weight to the protection of personal data. The are not use for commercial and the data are not preserved on Whaller, if the user delete it it’s delete for good.

Whaller is for everyone and specially for the compagny who want to create a network with a employee.

It’s free for particular, and it’s cost 1€ pers person for a groupe of 15 people in a compagny and 2€ for the premium offer.

The evolution of communication

Inthis caricature, we can see 5 men, it’s like a description of the communication’s evolution in our world. The first is writting  on a stone, the second represents the begining of prenting,  the third concerns mass publication with books and press communication, the fourth  is looking at his email and the last one is twitting. This drawing is aimed to show how we are no different from where we started, using basic words.

 So, we can tell us if this way of cummication and more particulary  internet is always good for humans and if it’s a simply new way of communication like the others ?

In our history, way of communication have never stoped evolving, and there is no denying that they have a real impact on society, on world and country’s debate and more particulary on persons. I think that with writings, newspapers there are more contacts, more charms between people and it can create real relation between people in library, cafe…

With social media we exchange a lot of informations, we can debate… But in my opinion we don’t create real link between people, it sounds wrongs ! It’s almost a process of insolation and a disparation of the dialogue and meeting.

Even if there is a lot of good points with social media, the evolution seems to go back, and people returns to basic communication. We can ask ourselves what will be the next character ? a robot ?

What is LinkedIn ?

LinkedIn is a social network used for professional networking; it was created in 2003 in Santa Monica by Jeff Weiner. LinkedIn has over 230 million members last year in 200 countries and territories, the member’s number are increasing especially during the recession because people think that it’s the only website of professional networking. LinkedIn is not really a social network because it’s different from Facebook we don’t have the time to discuss at length with people.

     Moreover, there are over 500 companies on this website, and there are more than one million groups. Groups allow professional exchanges that are gathered by interests to share their expertise, ideas, and feedback. In LinkedIn users can invite anyone to become a connection; there are three numbers of ways: the direct connections, the connections of each of their connections and also the connections of second-degree connections. These connections permit to find a job, opportunities and people. Having more connections is better because employers can list jobs and search for potential candidates. Users of LinkedIn can post their photos, information about their professional life; they can follow different companies and all that appears on his profile.

     Today, LinkedIn is growing up and this network launched the InApps platform with eight partners like WordPress and Slideshare. This social network has undergone several critical, for example in 2012 there are security vulnerabilities. Indeed, 6,5 million of passwords have been disclosed after hacking. But this accident doesn’t affect the popularity of LinkedIn and the majority of members are satisfied of this website.

Social media generation is a small aminated movie adapted from a comic strip draw by Marc Maron. The topic is the new generation Y, a generation where we are all connected everywhere at every moment.
In this animated movie, the movie director shows a generation who need more affection, and they find it on social media .
Like the men in the video who is nervous when he posts something but is completely reassured when someone like his post, he feels important and loved. 
Paradoxically he feels surrounded by friends but he is alone all the time 
The author decides to show us the horror and the way people retreat and become selfish with the social media.

 

The Cyber Bullying Virus

 

This video shows a negative aspect of social Media, which is the “the cyber bullying virus”, and informs us that it’s a major cause of depression and suicide among teenagers. Indeed in the story the act of bullying is considered as a virus, which is transmitted by social media.

The aim of the video is to show how easy this “virus” is contagious, and to show how hard it is to the victim to cope with all the insults, mean message she receives.

First the video present the way of transmission of the Virus, which is social media, like Facebook or tweeter, via some posts, commentaries, likes, etc.

Then it shows how it can affect the person, and how she tries to deal with it (cry, loneliness), all the more so as the social pressure is very strong nowadays. It happens that suicide is the only answer, solution the victims found. They prefer to end their lives, instead of living the situation.

The message of the video is that it’s possible to fight against this “virus”, to help the victims and maybe stoping them from committing actions (like suicides). Indeed the only fact of sending supportive messages, reporting posts, and showing a positive attitude can make the difference.

Social “Mediadvertising”

With a prodigious increase of the time spent on the social networks, it didn’t take long to the advertising to come on this new market in expansion. In 2006, the average time spent on the socials network was 2, 7 hours/ a month, nowadays it is estimated near to 7 hours/ a month, it can explain why advertising is generating more than a Billion dollars every 3 months on Facebook and 950 000 000$ on Twitter. The new ad system is based on the willing of targeting the consumer, by seeing what kind of websites he goes on, you can easily understand his multiple center of interest and so, you can provide him ad that will probably be interesting for him. Moreover, the web is a place where you can be sure to be seen, because it’s a word of photos, videos, links, texts, it’s a world where the vision has the most important place and it’s easy to take advantage of this fact by putting ads before a videos or every time that you click somewhere, there is no restriction of time or space. To conclude with this subject, we can easily see the importance that advertising will take in the future of social media, it’s a natural process and it includes that everything that can have impact on people will be used as a way to make benefits but it is also a way to strengthen social media, and to make it continue on his growth.
